Endless summerSkateboarding is more than just a sport. It's a fashion; a way of life; a culture that has spawned countless subcultures - one of which is longboarding. Orgrown-up skateboarding for those for whom Ollie now represents the name of their first child rather than their first skate trick. Developed in 1950s California to mimic the feeling of surfing, longboarding has since risen in prominence across the United States, Hawaii and Australia, where the rolling terrain is deemed ideal to ride the concrete wave. While the adrenalin junkies out there willpoint to the increased speeds that can be achieved on a one-metre longboard, the more common practice among ageing skaters is to simply surf the sidewalk - the perfect pursuit for endless summer evenings and lazy weekends by the beach when the surf is flat.
