THE Illawarra's biggest and baddest skaters, bladers and BMX riders will take over the Wollongong Youth Centre this Saturday for an afternoon of hot snags, hotter competition and awesome prizes.

Centre co-ordinator Matt Ball said as well as free skating before and after the competition, a troupe of BMX riders would show off their moves for the crowd.

"The riders are all local lads, and they all have some pretty wild moves," he said.

Competitors in the three skate categories - 12 to 15 years, 16 to 18 and Open - all have the chance to pick up some great prizes donated by Extreme Surf and Ski.

But for those who miss out, there is a free barbecue and music.

"Another thing we are doing is combining a music program we've been running here over the last few weeks," Mr Ball said.

"We have two DJs, taught by DJ Fury, who will be performing their first live gig on Saturday and having a DJ battle."

Mr Ball said the day would begin at noon, all events would be free and spectators were welcome.
